The Multi-Industry Job Fair organized by NIIT Institute (NF) in Madanpur Khadar witnessed an overwhelming response from both our NIIT Yuva Star passouts and companies eager to hire them. The two-day fair held on 25th and 26th of June, witnessed more than 130 students from across the 18 centres collect at the Khadar CDC. The participating companies made 74 on-the-spot offers while short listing another 50 candidates for the second round of interviews at their corporate office.
Participating companies spanned industries including IT & ITeS, BPOs, Insurance and Retail sectors. Some of the key ones were KFC, HUL, NetAmbit, Shoppers Stop, Unicon, Vidkris amongst others.
Commenting on the NF’s Job fair, Mr Nikhil, HR Manager, SMC Global said, “We were very satisfied with both the quality and the quantity of students. We shortlisted and offered placements to 24 students out of around 60 interviewed by us. NF’s job fair was definitely a successful event for us.”
Mr Narendra Singh, HR Head, Northern region, Shoppers Stop, too expressed his satisfaction and showed interest in participation in all similar events organized in future.
Our students were equally overwhelmed by their first job fair experience. Ekta, who was recruited by Shoppers Stop said, “It is one of the most memorable day of my life. I’m very excited with this offer and looking forward to it with great hope.” Another student, Zeeshan Ahmed, recruited by KFC said, “I am so happy that I’m placed with a brand like KFC.”
Encouraged by the huge success of the first NIIT Yuva Star job fair, NF has decided to organize other such fairs regularly across other CDCS so that the chances of placements for our students increase exponentially. In fact, the next job fair has already been planned in North West Delhi in mid July.
One of the key reasons for the success of the event was the 2-day job fair preparatory workshop at the same centre just before the real fair. The idea was to prepare the first timers for the experience and provide a small training capsule on job readiness. The workshop covered ice breakers, personality enhancement and skill development to crack interviews and improve sustainability in corporate career. The workshop gave special emphasis to aspects of personality, communication and domain knowledge coupled with developing business management skills.
NF is looking forward to repeat this feat every month starting with the next one in July.
